Screen grain cleaner and separator BSH-3-01 (cleaning/screening machine) is designed for cleaning of grain (wheat, rye, oat etc.) from foreign matters (impurities) that are differ by geometrical dimensions and aerodynamic qualities.

Screen grain cleaners and separators BSH-3-01 and A1-BMS-6 (cleaning/screening machines) are designed for cleaning of grain (wheat, rye, oat etc.) from foreign matters (impurities) that are differ by geometrical dimensions and aerodynamic qualities. 

Machines are operated as grain cleaners at the enterprises of agricultural sector, as well as at explosion-hazardous production facilities.

Separators are produced in accordance with third category of GOST-15150 (IEC 60721-2-1; IEC 60068-1), climate version “U” for internal market and export to temperate countries. However, separators have to work reliably in operating regimes at a temperature from 10 (°С) degrees below zero to 40 (°С) degrees above zero, relative moisture 80% with average annual temperature of 15 (°С) degrees above zero, atmospheric pressure from 650 to 800 mm Hg (86,6÷106,7 kPa). The machine is able to start and to work properly with temperature from 30 (°С) degrees below zero when applying special greases.

Notes* Technical capacity specified on line 1 is referred to the cleaning of feedstock – wheat with volume weight 760 kg/m3 and impurities content (seeds of weed and cultivated plants):

  • for pre-cleaning up to 15% with moisture max. 20%;

  • for main cleaning under foreign impurities content max. 3% with moisture content max. 15%.


With increasing of above mentioned norms of impurity and raw material moisture, separator technical capacity reduces by 2% for every percent of impurity increase and by 5% for every percent of gain in moisture.


For cleaning of other plants, different from wheat, the capacity reduces in the following way: 

  • for rye and corn – by 90%;

  • for panic grass and barley – by 80%;

  • for buckwheat and oat – by 70%;

  • for sunflower – by 50% of rated.

Structure and Functioning

Screen grain cleaners consist of the following parts: frame 1, body 2 with screen frames 10, traverse 3 with balancing mechanism, settling chamber 4, fan 5, fan drive 6, aspiration channel 8, screw conveyors 9, feeder 11, outlet trays 12, 13 and retaining wall 14 (pic. 2). The body is suspended to the frame by flexible suspensions.

Screen frames with screens are installed in the body by slideway railings, fixed on body side frames, and fixed rigidly by clamps. Screen frames are divided into meshes by long and cross baffles, where special rubber balls for cleaning of screens from trapped debris are placed. Screen frame dimensions at pic.4. At the front wall of screen body electric motor 15 with drive pulley is installed, which through the V-belt transmission rotates the traverse pulley with unbalanced weight fixed on it. Settling chamber with built-in fan and two screw conveyors is installed on top of the frame. The chamber is equipped with two ducts: 1-st duct for primary blowing-down, 2-nd for secondary blowing-down.

Feeder with valve and inbuilt magnetic unit is fixed on the front wall of the settling chamber. Valve sustains a constant level of inlet grain, and magnetic unit collects metallic impurities. Aspiration channel is attached to frame and settling chamber and serves for removal of light impurities that are differ by aerodynamic characteristics. Air consumption is adjusted by head valve with hand lever. Bottom valve serves for constant product discharge to aspiration channel.

Operation concept of the separator is as follows. Product through the feeder flows to the first duct of the aspiration chamber (primary blowing-down). Air intake past the 1-st duct is impossible due to constant support of grain in the feeder that increases the efficiency of grain cleaning from light impurities. Light impurities that have settled in the settling chamber for primary blowing-down are removed from the machine by screw conveyor. From the duct for primary blowing-down grain is transferred to the body section. The machine’s body circulates that impacts the product to shift over the screen followed by assortment. Coarse impurities are removed from the machine through tray 12, mixture of grain with fine impurities after upper screen is transferred to the lower screens frame. Fine impurities after spilling through lower screen fall to the separator bottom plate, and are removed from the machine through tray 13.

Grain cleaned on screens from coarse and fine impurities flows to the aspiration channel. Light impurities are carried away from grain by intense air stream (secondary blowing-down), settle in the second duct of the settling chamber for further removal from the separator by the second screw conveyor. Completely cleaned grain is removed from the machine through the bottom collector 20. Air conditions in first and second ducts are adjusted by valves installed in the settling chamber.

The machine is able to operate on receiving cleaning process (pre-cleaning) and industrial cleaning process (main cleaning) depending on screens types. To clean the grain from impurities that differ by dimensions different screens, corresponding to shape and size of dominant crops and foreign impurities, can be applied: with circular, elongated and triangle holes. Recommended installation diagram of separator in set with aspiration equipment is shown on pic.6.

Attention! Screens selection is carried out by the consumer at worksite depending on feedstock and its characteristics (moisture, impurities content, grain particle size etc.) for the purpose of obtaining the required cleaning standard.
