Modular grain dryers SZM mark and through-flow driers SZSh mark are designed for drying of food and forage grain, cereals, legumes, groats and sunflower seeds. Dryers provide drying of grain and seeds with an initial moisture content max. 35%. Dryers are equipped with natural gas burners with smooth power regulation. Dryer control system provides manual and automatic drying modes. Parameters that may be monitored and controlled are heat carrier temperature, grain temperature, grain moisture at the dryer inlet and outlet.

Modular grain dryers are designed for drying of seed, food and forage grain, cereals, legumes, groats and sunflower seeds. Dryers provide drying of grain and seeds with an initial moisture content max. 35% and can operate both in direct-flow or recirculation mode. Dryers are used as part of grain cleaning and drying complexes and seed cleaning and drying lines.

In accordance with protocol of State acceptance test No. 04-30-08 dated 26.12.2008 with environment characteristics air temperature +4...+8 ,

relative humidity 72...76%:


  • specific fuel consumption for drying one planned ton of grain is 4,76...5,28 m³/planed ton with humidity reduction by 5,4...7,4%, i.e. fuel consumption is 1,15...1,32 m³/t/% under reduction of 1 ton of grain moisture by 1%;
  • specific energy consumption: 1,9...2,9 kWhour/planned ton;
  • in accordance with safety criteria dryer design meets the requirements of Occupational safety standards system, provides necessary sanitary and hygienic conditions at workplace and environmental protection. Noise level (72 dBA), vibration (78 dB) and dust content in the air (1,7 mg/m³) at operator workplace doesnt exceed values stipulated by regulatory documentation;
  • during the test period, failures in dryer operation have not been fixed.


Advantages of grain dryers SZM mark:


  • multi-stage heating zone provides drying process flexibility, efficient fuel use and high quality grain at dryer outlet (high temperatures are applied for grain with higher moisture, as soon as grain is transferred to drying column, gradual reduction of temperature allows to complete grain drying process, improve its quality and save energy;
  • high uniformity of grain drying (application of inverter system after each module for mixing of grain in the stream);
  • microdiffusion burners developed by Khorolskiy mechanical plant (confirmed by state certificate of conformity) have excellent operation characteristics with stable and efficient burning and low level of harmful emissions. This is achieved due to burner design and smooth gas-air ratio adjustment (in contrast to stepped provided by other manufacturers) at different burner power mode, which in turn allows significantly improve drying on softer modes that especially important  for seed material preparation;
  • reinforced supporting construction allows withstand heavy wind and shifted mass-centering loads;
  • application of radial fans, in contrast to axial, reduces noise level to the indicators lower than required by regulatory documentation;
  • increased dryer efficiency due to lack of transport elements for heat carrier;
  • presence of cooling zone;
  • using sieves of galvanized steel class 1 (275 g/m²) 1.5 mm thick significantly increases dryer service life;
  • application of spherical roller bearings as intermediate bearings in the loading screw (while other manufacturers use sliding bearings) increases service life of this unit and reduces risk of failure during operation;
  • fast changing for drying of different crops (max. 1 hour);
  • electronic control system for grain moisture and temperature during drying in online mode allows to control and adjust drying process;
  • easy operation due to: 
    • grain moisture control system, heat carrier temperature and grain heating control system;
    • light and sound signaling about breakdowns of electric motors and drives;
    • interlock system, which eliminates the possibility of machines switching on in a sequence different than provide by dryer technological scheme;
  • dryer design allows to deliver it to the installation site in already assembled modules by regular transport without any special permits;
  • easy assembly doesnt require complex mechanisms and qualified contracting agencies, and is possible by forces of customers mechanics and electricians under the supervision of plant representative for 10-15 days (5-6 pers.).


Optionally, on customers order, it is possible to install heat recuperation system, but as practice has shown, using such systems on dryers of this type in our climate zone, small energy saving is cancelled out by labour costs for system maintenance (cleaning from dust and frosting at negative temperatures) and increased dust concentration in heat carrier (that increases risk of grain ignition in the dryer).
